Toes N Sand Free Sunset Movies are back on Wednesday nights at Navarre Beach Pier. Wednesday the 22nd will be Jaws 2 on the big screen in the sand by the pier.
This is the last full weekend before our children go back to school. I can see some of you jumping for joy as you read this. I miss those days, but now my daughter, who is a teacher, calls and tells me how excited she is for the first day of school. Funny how that happens. Our reporters will be out at the schools taking pictures of children starting their day on Monday. If you see us, say “hi” and let us know your child’s name so we get it right. We hate it when we get it wrong! We chronicle students’ journeys through 18 years of school. We have it all – it is just one of the many reasons you should subscribe. We try to keep track of our students after high school too – so if you know of a student who has graduated and is doing great things let us know so we can brag about them. Once we were reviewing a bid for an engineering company to put in our reefs and we saw the name of one of our former Navarre High students on the bid. That’s exciting work – so we did a story about her. We love bragging about our students. We wish all our teachers a great school year.

Fourth of July at Navarre Beach was the most patriotic event I can remember in my years in Navarre. The Navarre Beach Fourth of July Hometown Celebration and Children’s Parade was pure magic with more than 100 children participating in the parade. They decorated tricycles, bicycles, batons, children and even a little front-end loader and paraded around the parking lot led by the Cat Country 98.7 Cat and Jenna Scott to patriotic tunes compliments of Systems of Sound (Bob Levison).
The Navarre Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Hometown 4th of July parade and celebration. The fun starts at 6 p.m. with a children’s parade. Live entertainment will start at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m. Visit www.navarrechamber.com for more information.
Remember when it was very cold this winter and we wished for summer? Me either. It is hot! As I write this – the heat index is 103 degrees. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

Moms – this is a great way to get a break during the summer. Your children will be occupied in a safe environment learning good values and you can go grocery shopping and maybe even take a trip to the beach! When my children were younger – I had every VBS for the entire summer on my calendar. And, my children had an awesome time and learned a lot of cool crafts. I learned how to do this during the summer from my mom.
