The Holley Navarre Water System board is up to seven members again after appointing Jo Ann Cave and Don Linnell to fill two open positions.

We were not informed of the special meeting to elect the two new board members even though we knew they had two openings.

As I’m writing this on Tuesday, it is Navarre Press’s 21st anniversary May 25, 2021.

It is difficult to believe it has been that long, especially since our community is working on some of the same issues we were facing 20 years ago.

I had the “opportunity” to watch most of the Santa Rosa Board of County Commission meeting last week and it was, well, interesting.

What wasn’t interesting was that it lasted from 4:30 p.m. until midnight.

It’s been a crazier week than usual in this business with everything from small sinkholes to buried bodies, fatal wrecks and a bank robbery.

We also had a car drive into a Holley by the Sea house, and then drive away.

This week’s Navarre Press is a mix, as always, of “good” news and “bad” news.

I often hear that the media doesn’t follow good news as avidly as we follow bad news.

Mother’s Day is May 9 and I’m celebrating a little early.

I am in Orlando this week to see my mom who I haven’t seen in more than a year due to COVID. She was living independently before COVID.

We have been hearing a lot of stories lately about how fast real estate has been selling in the Navarre area.

Last week I heard about a home that was sold for $45,000 over the asking price.

If you’re heading out and about this week and you’re not fully employed, consider stopping by one of our amazing local businesses and applying for a job.

The hiring shortage continues at many area service-related businesses and to keep Navarre strong, we need to keep our businesses fully staffed.
