Counties form Gulf Coast Aerospace Coalition to attract Airbus
In an effort to attract companies in the aerospace industry to the region, the Greater Pensacola Chamber and five counties in Northwest Florida have formed the Gulf Coast Aerospace Coalition. The coalition consists of economic development leaders from Bay, Escambia, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Walton counties, with the Greater Pensacola Chamber representing Greater Pensacola.
TDC recommends appointees, breaking with marketing firm
The TDC discussed potential candidates for commission appointments to the council at a Tuesday meeting. Two of three council members with expiring terms did not seek re-appointment – Kati Curle and Dorothy Slye. Current Council chairman Vernon Compton reapplied.
Wanted sex offender arrested follow traffic stop
A traffic stop netted an arrest of a wanted sex offender on September 15 when a vehicle identified as a Chevrolet SUV with Florida tags was stopped by a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
New courthouse location stirs debate
A planned discussion for purchasing property near Avalon Boulevard for a courthouse prompted many citizens to attend Monday’s Santa Rosa County Commission meeting, some of them encouraging commissioners to instead consider using existing property the county already owns in East Milton.

Commissioner Lynchard has strong ties to Slye
Since he was first elected in 2008, Santa Rosa County Commissioner Lane Lynchard has abstained at least 10 times from voting on matters before the Santa Rosa Commission involving Dorothy Slye, president of The Pier, Inc., which is contracted to operate the Navarre Beach Pier. Lynchard cited personal business connections as the reason for his recusals.

Storm clouds seem to be gathering over Navarre quite frequently lately, as the area was hit yet again by an isolated heavy rain event late Monday.

NHS NJROTC cadets honor 9/11 victims
A total of 2,996 small American flags lined the front lawn around the flag poles at Navarre High School last Wednesday, in remembrance of the 2,996 people that lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks 12 years ago.
