Top two bidders return and two other contenders join forces
Santa Rosa County Commissioners received seven proposals in their redo of the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier management bid. Pasco Gibson, Jr., and Yolanda Wells initially won a contract, set to start at the end of the current lease, which expires Dec. 31. However, three commissioners decided to revisit the initial proposal selection, prompting a lawsuit filed by Gibson and Wells to stop a revote. Ultimately the board instead rebid the contract to remedy the suit and also revised a proposal scoring method the county had used for more than two decades.
Six sites submitted for courthouse
Santa Rosa County has received six proposals from land owners offering their property for sale as the site of the new courthouse. Commissioners are expected to review those bids at a special meeting Dec. 3. However, voters will likely decide whether or not to fund a proposed judicial facility next year when a local option sales tax referendum is expected to be placed on the ballot.

Two charged in stolen photography equipment case
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was able to help a Fort Walton Beach photographer reclaim most of the $43,000 worth of equipment stolen from him in an Oct. 23 incident.
