Navarre’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) held a training session Sunday, March 3, at Holley Navarre Fire District Station 45. The training session was part of a six-session training course to prepare residents of Santa Rosa County for emergencies and how they can help their community.
The recreational harvest of snook in the Panhandle, Big Bend, Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay, Charlotte Harbor and Southwest management regions will open March 1, and remain open through April 30. This includes all Florida state and inland waters as well as adjacent federal waters within each management region.
Holley Navarre Middle School is sending 13 students to the state science fair following the regional West Panhandle Science and Engineering Fair at UWF. The regional science fair saw 24 HNMS students compete.
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office recently announced the formation of a new nonprofit organization called the ‘Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Star Foundation,’ which will work to support the agency and charitable organizations throughout the county and first responder communities.
Holley Navarre Water System CEO Jeff Crigler wants an independent rate study to look at how their rates and fees compare with other utilities of similar size and how the current rates are working for HNWS’s mission. The utility’s board agreed, approving soliciting a study.
Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) invites the public to attend an adoption event featuring puppies, adult dogs and cats, and waived adoption fees for St. Pawdi’s Day on Sat., March 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SRCAS shelter, 4451 Pine Forest Rd. in Milton.
The City of Gulf Breeze and architectural firm McKim & Creed have been recognized for their work on a walkway and boardwalk trail. The recognition came in the form of an award presented to the project team at the ACEC-FL awards banquet in Orlando in February. ACEC stands for the American Council of Engineering Companies.
The “Multi-Use Pathway Phase 1 and Wetlands Trail Boardwalk Project” secured an honor award in the Special Projects category. The plaque was presented to the City Council March 4.
