Smash and grab burglaries in south part of county
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says six “smash and grab” vehicle burglaries took place in South Santa Rosa County between Friday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 20. All burglaries were in parking lots of area businesses. Most of them occurred between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Neglect leads to death of 3 year old
In a tragic case of alleged child neglect with great bodily harm, a 3-year-old boy living in the 8000 block of Mercado Street in Navarre has died after spending several hours in a car in the driveway. Montana Rain Jackson, a 19-year-old caregiver to the boy, has been arrested. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office says that additional charges are expected.

Robber sentenced to 15 years
In a press release issued by the State Attorney’s Office, Bill Eddins announced that Daniel Ferry Lee, III, 31, of Cantonment entered a plea of guilty to robbery and fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement at high speed. He was sentenced to 15 years in state prison as a Prison Releasee Reoffender.
