First Judicial District Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Andrea Minyard secured support April 26 to continue in her position from the Santa Rosa Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) despite getting an unfavorable review by Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson. Okaloosa Sheriff Larry Ashley has also complained about response times for autopsies.

State announces recreational red snapper season
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Gov. Rick Scott have announced a 40-day recreational red snapper season in state and federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico. A 24-day season was originally proposed.
