Marcus Spanevelo, the suspect in the kidnapping and death of Navarre mom Cassie Carli, could land on death row in a federal prison.

Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) is hosting its first-ever Community Cat Day in Tiger Point for Santa Rosa County residents on Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Tiger Point Community Center, 1370 Tiger Park Lane. This event will offer free spay/neuter services for up to 30 stray/feral cats.

Alfredo Mendoza Montero, 45, of Mexico, was sentenced to two years and one day in federal prison after having pleaded guilty to charges of passport fraud, false impersonation of a citizen, and aggravated identity theft. The sentence was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Amnesty Day will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Gulf Breeze Community Center, located at 800 Shoreline Dr. in Gulf Breeze. This event allows residents to dispose of HHW at no charge without having to drive to the Central Landfill in Milton.

Alicia Trevino, 59, passed peacefully at her home in Cantonment July 11. Born Jan. 15, 1966, in Kansas City, Missouri, Trevino grew up the daughter of a pastor and a middle child with five siblings.
