Changes made to school calendar
In order to meet the required instructional minutes and missed time for weather, the following updates were made to the 2024-2025 school calendar and approved at the February 4, 2025 school board meeting. “Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to make this as least disruptive as possible for students, staff, and families,” the school district said in a statement.

Roadway dedication honors two former Santa Rosa Sheriffs
The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners, as well as County, State, and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) officials, met at the corner of Highway 90 and Avalon Boulevard Wednesday, Jan. 29, to commemorate two public servants of yesteryear.
Bart D. and John R. Broxson were both Sheriffs of Santa Rosa County, as well father and son.

Car crashes into Tiger Point home, no injuries reported
Midway Fire District had to rebuild part of a home Sunday, Jan. 26, after a vehicle crashed into it.
On that Sunday, at approximately 5:30 PM, Midway Fire District Engine 35, Truck 36, and Battalion Chief 35 responded to the 1000 block of Lionsgate Lane following a 911 report of a vehicle crash involving a home.

A celebration of the lives of two former Santa Rosa County Sheriffs turned into a scary situation Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, in Milton.
State Sen. Don Gaetz, 77, suffered what has been described as a “medical emergency” during his remarks at a roadway dedication ceremony. The ceremony was in honor of Bart D. and John R. Broxson, two former Santa Rosa County Sheriffs and members of the well-known Broxson family.
