Board says Navarre incorporation vote not their responsibility

The commission heard from both side of the issues – Preserve Navarre (which is for incorporation) and Protect Navarre (which is against incorporation) – but ultimately decided that this was an issue that should be handled by state representatives, not the county board of commissioners.

Tourist Development Office reopened after A/C issue

The Tourist Development Office (TDO) was forced to close its doors Monday, May 6. The reason: a faulty AC system. The office has since reopened. When TDO staff came into work Monday morning, May 6, they noticed a strange smell and a sediment heavy liquid coming out of the unit. The unit started malfunctioning at some point over the weekend.

A look at the Navarre Beach Wastewater Treatment facility

Navarre Beach is home to over 1,000 people. Add tourists and you have a far larger number. 

With all those people comes a tremendous amount of waste, and not only the trash kind. To manage waste and water resources, Navarre Beach residents rely on the Santa Rosa County-run Navarre Beach Wastewater Treatment Facility, located at 1411 Utility Drive.

The Holley Navarre Water System (HNWS) sent out a public notice to its members April 30 detailing the failure of Fairpoint Regional Utility Services (FRUS) to collect a subset of drinking water samples from April 2023 to September 2023. The lapse in water sample collection came after a new well was brought online.

Navarre incorporation discussion on Monday’s Santa Rosa County Commission agenda

It appears the incorporation of Navarre will be discussed during Monday’s Santa Rosa Board of County Commissioners meeting.

The agenda was published Thursday and under commissioner Ray Eddington’s items is a “discussion of requests received for a straw poll related to incorporation.”

Eglin AFB’s 96th security forces help ensure mission success

Eglin is the largest Air Force Base in the United States. With around 725 square miles (464,000 acres) of land and 153 miles of shoreline to cover, the Air Force relies on the 96th Security Forces Squadron to protect base operations. Standing between Eglin’s assets and the outside world, the Security Forces operate as a military police service within the Air Force and Space Force.
