The Florida Forest Service’s Blackwater Forestry Center is issuing words of warning for anyone considering any outdoor burning activities in the coming days: Use extreme caution.
It has been almost a month since much of the three-county area (Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties) has seen rainfall and wildfire activity is on the rise. Add to that a forecast calling for winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph and fire officials are braced for a potentially busy weekend.

Dr. Joel Rudman announced March 3 that he would be running for the Florida House of Representatives, District 3 position.
Rudman is a family practice physician at Holley Navarre Medical Clinic. He announced his candidacy at the conclusion of a Business After Hours event at Best Western Thursday night put on by the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by his clinic.

On March 2, the Florida House of Representatives approved House Bill 651, which means Navarre Beach Fire is one step closer to that goal. The topic is set to be on the ballot for Navarre Beach Leaseholders in November.
