Navarre High School seniors are getting a second chance to attend prom. Parents and people in the community are hosting a second prom for those unable to attend the first due to limited ticket sales.

At the April 7 meeting of the Santa Rosa District School Board, Superintendent Dr. Karen Barber and the board announced the hiring of a coordinator for federal programs.

The position will be filled by Bobbie Lewter.

Young people are often asked what they want to do when they grow up. The answers often change as they grow into adolescence and begin to know themselves better.

For students in Santa Rosa District Schools, they get the chance to see what their dream job is really like.

Holley-Navarre Intermediate would like to congratulate fifth grader, Sakura Plambeck, for winning FIRST PLACE in the annual Fifth Grade Essay Contest sponsored by Retired Educators of Florida. She will now represent Santa Rosa County in the District 1 contest, which includes all the central time zones in Florida.

At Santa Rosa County School Board’s March meeting, Superintendent Dr. Karen Barber introduced Navarre High School’s new assistant principal, Christopher Stanley.

Stanley is stepping into Joe Trujillo’s former role. Trujillo now serves as the principal at Avalon Middle School in Milton.

At the Santa Rosa County school board meeting on Feb. 10, several students were honored as their school’s choice to represent them at the district level of the Sunshine State Scholars program.

Making an impact in a community can take years, but for the Songs it only took a couple months.

The Songs moved to Navarre in December from Birmingham.

Several Santa Rosa County school students travelled to Tampa in February to participate in the 2022 All-State Honor Band, competing against students from all 67 counties in Florida.

Several students at area schools have been honored with All-State Chorus recognition.

Woodlawn Beach Middle School will hold a STEAM night Mar. 10, its first STEAM night since 2019.

More than 200 parents and students are expected to fill the halls with curiosity, creativity and fun, following a model created after the hit TV show, ‘Amazing Race.’
