| Kaitie Meyer

There was standing room only at a special school board meeting Monday morning to hear from the public and then vote on the mask mandate in Santa Rosa County school district.

After the board heard from 17 parents and frustrated citizens, all speaking up against the mask mandate, the motion to make masks recommended instead of mandatory passed unanimously.

Donna Lunsford of Milton, a grandmother of nine children, demonstrates what masks are doing to her grandchildren. “You’ve got to stop and think,” she said. “This is terrifying to our children.” Photo by Kaitie Meyer.
