Traffanstead turns himself in to jail

Christopher Jason Traffanstead from Gulf Breeze, 39, who the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office was looking for on an active warrant, turned himself in to the Santa Rosa County Jail on Thursday, April 7.

Cox sentenced to 25 years

The State Attorney’s Office of William Eddins for the First Judicial Court announced that Christopher Lee Cox was sentenced to 25 years in state prison with a 15-year minimum mandatory sentence and fined $250,000.  Cox was convicted by a Santa Rosa County jury on March 9 for trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Man arrested for exposing himself

Neighbors called the police on a man who was seen out in front of his residence on Bay Club Drive wearing a woman’s bra, panties and pink bathrobe.  On  March 15, two neighbors both reported Mark Baringer for exposing himself while standing on his lawn.  Baringer asked one of the neighbors if he was calling the police and then retreated into his house.

Joint narcotics sting nets 17 arrests

A two-year joint narcotics operation dubbed “Operation Cagney & Lazer” in south Okaloosa County has nabbed at least 17 individuals and additional arrests are pending.  One of the 17 arrested was a Navarre man, 54-year-old Eugene Klamer of Paloma Street.  He has been charged with conspiracy to possess a controlled substance (cocaine) and illegal use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Carjacker runs deputy off road and into tree

A Milton man is behind bars under a $184,500 bond at the Santa Rosa County Jail after allegedly stealing a car and using it to run a deputy off the road and into a tree.

Holley man indicted on child pornography charges

Holley resident and Hurlburt Field Intelligence Squadron member Douglas J. Plate, 53, was arraigned in Pensacola on March 17 after a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging him with receipt, possession and access with intent to view child pornography.

Fort Walton couple arrested for human trafficking

Tyler Clayton Hale, 40, and Jennifer Leslie Pope, 41, both of Adams Street in Fort Walton Beach were arrested and charged with Human Trafficking and Deriving Support from the Proceeds of Prostitution.

Woman charged with battery on deputy

A Gulf Breeze woman with a longstanding history of retail theft and petit theft dating back to 2008 was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Navarre Wal-Mart for theft and battery on a police officer.  In the arrest report, Kimberly Lehman, 29, was being followed by Wal-Mart staff because she was accused of taking an employee’s wallet.  Deputies responded to the call and a subsequent search of Lehman revealed the employee’s missing items.  However, the employee did not wish to press charges.

On Friday, Feb. 26 agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Ivan Jarrett Hendricks, 47, of Jay on 25 counts of possession of child pornography.

Three stabbed in fight

On Sunday afternoon Feb. 28 at approximately 1:20 p.m., Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a battery call at the Milton exit overpass of Interstate 10 which was called in by passing motorists.
