Code enforcement declares murder site nuisance
Santa Rosa County Code Enforcement has publicly declared the structure at 2657 Salamanca St. in Navarre a nuisance and unsafe, unsanitary or unfit for human habitation. The notice was delivered and posted on the property April 18, 2023.
The property is the location of the murder of 43-year-old Toby Hill on April 7, 2023. On that Friday, deputies responded to a reported shooting and found Hill with a gunshot wound. EMS responders later pronounced him dead.

New children’s book written, illustrated by Navarre women
There are children’s books based around a variety of holidays such as Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving. For Navarre resident Chelsea Perry, seeing these books, along with an incident involving her son’s lost tooth, inspired her to write her own book about a certain folkloric character.
Perry is the author of “The Bristle Whistle,” a new book that spins the age-old tale of the Tooth Fairy in a new direction.

Navarre High Prom 2023
Navarre High School held their 2023 Prom April 29 at the Fort Walton Beach Fairgrounds exhibit hall. The theme of this year’s prom was “French Quarter.” Carlos Martinez and Sarah Shipley were named Prom King and Queen. The rest of the court comprised of Nick Reder, Jacob Herrera, Jacob Minisall, Renee Harris-Toliver, Piper Howell, and Charlotte Haas.

Tongue tied: Gulf Breeze man holds multiple Guinness World Records
A Gulf Breeze man recently won a national cherry stem tying contest put on by Angry Orchard Hard Cider. The goal of the competition was to tie as many cherry stems into knots as possible using only your tongue.
The winner, Al Gliniecki, received $8,000 and a year’s supply of Angry Orchard. Runners-up received $100 and two packs of Angry Orchard cider.

Raiders place well at Navy nationals
Navarre’s NJROTC unit came through with another strong performance at Navy Nationals at Naval Air Station Pensacola earlier this month.
The Raider battalion was back at nationals and among the top 24 teams that were selected to compete at the event. There are more than 600 NJROTC units in the country.

Navarre Beach Fire Rescue donates truck to volunteer dept in Alabama
Navarre Beach Fire Rescue District is no stranger to assisting other fire departments or districts when they are in need.
In December, Navarre Beach Fire gave Munson Volunteer Fire Department some of their thermal imaging equipment and NBFRD always assists Holley Navarre Fire District and Midway Fire District on calls. On Monday, April 17, Navarre Beach Fire was able to help an out-of-state volunteer fire department get a vehicle they could have never afforded on their own.
