Trains hold a special place in the hearts of many. For one Navarre resident, the puff of steam, the sound of the horn and the vibration along the tracks as the train goes by evoke childhood memories.

“I remember when my father got me a small (toy) train set when I was little,” said David Cardenas. “I love small and big trains. I was once on a big one.”

On Thursday, March 13 and Friday, March 14, Jewish people across the world will be in a state of celebration.

March typically means Spring Break for Florida colleges and universities, as well as countless other schools across the U.S. Students are putting down their books and putting on their bathing suits to enjoy a well-deserved vacation. Here are the dates for the upcoming spring breaks.

Navarre Garden Club members came together Tuesday, March 4, for a celebration of the organization’s 50th anniversary at Holley Navarre Fire District’s Station 45 meeting room. The milestone was marked with cake and a meeting to discuss what’s in store for the rest of 2025.

Three Midway Fire District firefighters recently completed an intensive 40-hour advanced extrication training course held in Orlando.  This course enhanced their skills in life-saving rescue techniques.

There are few places in the world where you can walk through swamps, prairies, beaches, flat woods and a Civil War battlefield. In Florida, you can see this all in a matter of a month, or if you are Deanna Doane, 19 days.

At 26 years old, Doane recently completed the fastest supported known time in Florida National Scenic Trail history.

Last fall, a house off Mercado Street in Navarre became home to a nonprofit with goals to become a haven for rabbits, chickens and guests.

The nonprofit, Bunnychick Haven, will hold a grand opening April 4, just in time for Easter.

Hundreds came to Curious Apples Saturday, March 1, in support of Team Jackson, a fundraiser for a Navarre child with cancer. While they are still tallying the numbers, the effort is estimated to have already raised nearly $11,000. Online supporters also contributed to the fundraiser.

The Catholic Church is a worldwide church. With congregants of various backgrounds and cultures, there is plenty to celebrate. St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Navarre is no exception.

A recent University of West Florida graduate is putting their skills to good use to help a Navarre nonprofit.
