Baptist Hospital will be moving patients from its E Street location to its new campus at the corner of Brent Lane and I-110 in Pensacola Saturday, Sept. 23. This includes the new Baptist Hospital Emergency Room on Brent Lane opens Sept. 23, at 3 a.m. The emergency room on E Street will close at the same time. Other Baptist Health Care ERs are open 24/7, including the ERs at Gulf Breeze and Jay hospitals and the free-standing emergency room at Baptist Medical Park-Navarre.

Residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities spend most of their time on the property of their respective facility. Navarre Gardens, which has locations on Highway 87 and Highway 98, is an assisted living facility in Navarre. While many of the residents at Navarre Gardens spend much of their time on property, occasionally they can visit other places. On Thursday, Sept. 14, several residents from Navarre Gardens on Highway 87 visited Navarre Beach.

Natural disasters may bring the worst of mother nature to communities, but they can also bring the best of human nature. An example of this is the faith based organizations which come to the aid of people impacted by storms such as hurricanes and tornadoes. In the wake of Hurricane Idalia, a category 3 storm which ravaged parts of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, these organizations, including churches, either sent supplies or volunteers to help clean up debris and rebuild.

On Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church will host the Smokin in the Square BBQ Cookoff, an annual event to raise money for charity. More than 600,000. That’s how many people go missing in the United States each year, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons (NamUS) database. While most of those missing persons are recovered, either dead or alive, (89 to 92 percent according to NamUS) there are still plenty of people who remain missing for years. One such missing person is Tiffany Daniels, a then 25 year old woman from the Pensacola area.

Since 2000, with the exception of 2020, the Navarre Beach Autorama has been an annual staple of car enthusiasts in Navarre and along the Emerald Coast.

Held the second weekend in October at Navarre High School’s parking lot, the event promises to feature a variety of vehicles including antique cars, custom cars, street rods, as well as motorcycles and trucks of all types and styles. The event regularly brings people from across the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama to Navarre.
