FWC making a difference in shoal bass conservation
Over the last two years freshwater fisheries researchers and managers with the FWC have successfully released more than 11,000 shoal bass.
It’s part of an ongoing recovery effort for the shoal bass population after Hurricane Michael devastated the Panama City area in 2018 and depleted more than 90% of it.

Swenson Park in Tiger Point reopens
The sounds of people, especially children playing, once again reverberate around Swenson Park.
On Monday, Nov. 6, the park, which has been around since the 1960s, celebrated its reopening. Earlier this year, construction began on the park as part of a grant project to update facilities and bring in a new playground.

New K9 unit supervisor first woman in role for Sheriff’s Office
The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office recently elevated Sgt. Chrystal Bozard to the role of supervisor of the K9 Unit. It marked the first time a woman has held the role, something Bozard doesn’t take lightly.
“I am blessed to be here, it was always my goal to get back into the unit,” Bozard said. “Its always harder for women in this career field because there’s not as many but I feel extremely blessed.”
