You can’t spell community without unity, and for Joe Cooper, a retired Air National Guardsman, that’s what he is all about. Cooper has called Navarre home for the past year and is the organizer of the 2024 Spring Clean-up and Navarre Citizen’s Social, which will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Arc of the Emerald Coast announced that on Wednesday, Jan. 31, it received a generous donation of $25,000 from the Fort Walton Beach Rotary. The funds were raised at the North Florida Pickleball Brawl, the Rotary’s annual pickleball tournament.

An excited crowd gathered Friday morning around Kenya, a 16-year-old reticulated giraffe resident at Gulf Breeze Zoo, to watch her predict the future.

Feb. 2, or Groundhog Day as it’s called everywhere else, will now be referred to as Giraffe Day in Santa Rosa County, according to county commissioner Colton Wright who read an official declaration at the celebration Friday morning.

On Feb. 10, ceramicists, pottery enthusiasts and community members will gather at Holley Hill Pottery for the 19th edition of Woodstoke Festival. The festival, named in homage to Woodstock, is organized by Brenda Stokes of Holley Hill Pottery and the Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society.

There is nothing like curling up with a good book during time off from school or work, but for some people, time off means an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and help others. Luckily for one organization in Navarre, they are doing both at the same time.

With snowbirds flocking south, the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Office is opening their doors once again and hosting fun events for the seasonal residents during the next few months. Reservations are required for each class. You may only reserve a spot for yourself and 1 additional person. No full-time residents, please. In-person signups are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Friday, coinciding with engaging rock painting sessions and self-guided social and game hour. Reservations are required for each class except the Snowbird Expo.
