80 years after her time on the factory floor, Tiger Point’s ‘Rosie the Riveter’ gets her recognition
The year was 1944. The United States and its allies were several years into the largest war the world had ever seen. While much of the focus was on the men fighting on beaches, battlefields, on the waves and in the skies over Europe, northern Africa and throughout east Asia, there were a group of people back home dedicating themselves to the war effort as well.

UWF to offer new behavior analysis degree
The University of West Florida is launching a Master of Science in Behavior Analysis beginning in Fall 2024, pending approval from the Florida Board of Governors. The UWF Board of Trustees approved the program at a meeting held on May 16.

Navarre High student selected for elite U.S. Navy Summer Flight Academy
While some high school students will spend this summer doing odd jobs or hanging out with friends, Lauren Mavity, a student at Navarre High School will complete an intensive eight-week U.S. Navy Summer Flight Academy aviation program at Delaware State University, achieving her FAA Private Pilot’s license upon completion of the training. The program takes place from June 9 – Aug. 2.

Athletes enjoy ‘cool’ experience at Special Olympics
Navarre High had a group of athletes compete in the state Special Olympics earlier this month in Orlando.
The group was part of a 3-on-3 basketball team that played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and Angie Taylor, the ESE Chair at the high school, said the athletes had a blast.
