Country on the Sound forms baseline for next year’s event

An event of potentially epic proportions for Navarre, Country on the Sound, fell short of the imagined goals set by event planner and owner of Navarre Water Sports, Greg Britton.  But overall, he and others were pleased with how the first-year event turned out.  “We couldn’t have asked for better talent or a better group of people to work with,” Britton said.

Navarre Park goes Pink

The Pink Pirates of Navarre celebrated their official ribbon cutting as the newest members of the Navarre Area Beach Chamber Monday, Oct. 6. The ceremony took place just five days before the group celebrates October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month at their second annual event entitled “Pinktoberfest.”

TDC Board approves two applicants for expiring terms

The board of directors for the Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council voted in favor of recommending two of the three interested applicants to the Board of County Commissioners to fill two seats being vacated on the board.  They also voted to approve $32,000 in funding for organizations who submitted applications to receive grant money for events taking place next fiscal year.

Visitor Center earns certification

The Santa Rosa County Visitor Information Center has been designated an official Florida Certified Tourism Information Center by VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation. The VISIT FLORIDA Certified Tourism Information Center is a program by VISIT FLORIDA which recognizes visitor services facilities around the state that provide facilities and promote travel in the county and throughout Florida. The Santa Rosa County Visitor Information Center is located in Navarre Park located at the foot of the Navarre Beach Bridge on heavily traveled U.S. Hwy. 98. The center not only promotes visitor opportunities in the county but is an important connector with our neighboring Northwest Florida counties.

Navarre’s first color run

The second annual Krewe of Karibbean Dead Pirate 5K held on Saturday, was Navarre’s first color run.  With approximately 130 runners, emphasis was placed more on fun than competition.  As is expected at a color run, participants were doused with color all along the course.

The best Good Time Regatta

The 2015 Juana’s Good Time Regatta shattered 2014’s previous record of 75 vessels with 120 registrations entered.

Juana’s Good Time Regatta breaking records

This weekend Juana’s Regatta will paint the sound with masts of every color on what they hope is a record-breaking number of boats participating in the two-day event.   The popular race already has more than 70 boats pre-registered, which is the most ever in the 25-year history of the Good Time Regatta.

Navarre Beach lifeguards unsung heroes

The busy summer season is set to wind down after the Labor Day weekend for Navarre Beach lifeguards, but they will remain on duty through Nov. 1.  Their service to the community and visitors has been nearly flawless, with only one drowning so far this season.  That drowning occurred at the far west end of Navarre Beach in an unguarded area.

Fast and furious, boats enjoy the Juana’s stop in 2015 poker run

The decks and beaches around Juana’s Pagodas were packed with boaters and spectators at the 2015 Emerald Coast Poker Run Aug. 22. The long cigar boats started arriving early to check in and kept coming throughout the day.
