Soaring more than 10 feet off the ground, Charles Orth plants his pole and vaults over a bar. His body twists as he makes his turn before landing on a mat below.
Orth makes one of the more difficult track events look easy. Like tying your shoe or riding a bike.
If only it were that simple for the Navarre High School sophomore.
“It’s not easy. It takes a lot of work,” Orth said. “Getting upside down is one of the toughest things to do. It plays so many tricks on your mind.”
This is Orth’s second year pole vaulting and he continues to improve.
