Winter brings cooler temps, less activity for some animals
Although Florida’s winters aren’t nearly as cold as other parts of the United States, the Sunshine State is not without its cold season, especially in the northern part of the state.
The Florida Black Bear enters a physiological state known as Torpor during the winter months. Torpor, like hibernation, means lowered activity and the slowing down of natural processes such as metabolism.
