Weekend mobile home fire leads to firefighter injury

Holley Navarre Fire District responded to the 3200 block of Bob Tolbert Road for a reported structure fire around 12:24 p.m. Multiple people reportedly called into 911 regarding the fire.
According to Steve Clark, Sr., an associate with Midway Fire District who was present on scene, the single wide mobile home was engulfed in flames when first responders arrived and had spread to a neighboring residence.
The first home collapsed due to the intensity of the fire.
Crews from HNFD Engines 41 and 45 knocked down the flames in the second home and secured the fire from spreading further.

Due to the fire’s intensity and humid weather, two firefighters were treated by Lifeguard EMS after becoming overheated. One was transported to a nearby urgent care as a precaution.
Another firefighter sustained a back injury and was transported to a facility for treatment.
According to HNFD Fire Chief Kevin Lewis, the back injury was sustained when the firefighter fell through the front deck while making entry into one of the residences with a hose line.
Those injured were released from the hospital over the weekend and recuperating. Lewis said all three are firefighters with HNFD Station 41.
Midway Fire District, Navarre Beach Fire Rescue District and Florosa Fire Control District also responded to the fire. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
