Before a baseball game this spring at Navarre High School, Paulette Rollant gripped the baseball, went through her wind up, and threw a perfect pitch to Raiders’ catcher Matt Marshall. Presidents, dignitaries, celebrities and former big league players who have attempted and failed miserably to throw a ceremonial first pitch would have been impressed. More importantly, Dan Rollant could not have possibly been more proud. Not only for Paulette’s execution of the pitch, but for what she has done to honor him since his death in December 2011.
Dan Rollant, who died in December 2011, was a dedicated baseball fan and supporter of youth baseball. Navarre High School presented this plaque to his widow, Paulette, who awarded the first Daniel Vincent Rollant Memorial Scholarships to four senior baseball players last week. The plaque has been fixed to the concession stand at the Raiders’ baseball field.
