Vampire mosquitoes have quite the bite

For weeks and weeks my husband had been complaining about his stabbing, stinging, itching mosquito bites and resultant welts. He said what made this year different was the mosquitoes were more ferocious, seemed to be much larger and were dive bombing him.
This American Gallinipper (Psorophora Ciliata) mosquito was caught in east Navarre. This species is considered to be the largest mosquito in existence. It is found in the southeastern United States, and thrives in flood and stormy areas which produce ample rainfall.
