The Bindu Institute to host VisionBoard Workshop Jan. 12 and 13

With 2024 on the horizon, you might start reflecting on your goals and aspirations for the new year.

Towards the end of December, many people write down their New Year’s resolutions on a sheet of paper or maybe just think of them in their head, but taking the time to reflect and design a vision board shows commitment to these goals and your betterment. Vision boards are specific. They are a visual reminder to help keep you on track throughout the year.

“Goals are more impactful when you sit down and map them out,” The Bindu Institute life coach and leadership consultant Dr. Lisha Wallace said.

The Bindu Institute will be hosting a Vision Board Workshop Friday Jan. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. There are options for both early birds and night owls, but seats are limited. Please call 850-816-8122 to reserve your spot.

Tickets are $40 per person and include all the materials needed to make a vision board, including the board, magazines, markers, nice paper, stickers and ribbon to decorate your board. Feel free to bring personal pictures for inspiration and to give your vision board that personal touch.

There will be light refreshments as well as instruction and counsel on how to create a vision board.

“We want to help people reach their goals for 2024 and have fun too,” said Melanie Adair Lavin, a mental health counselor intern at The Bindu Institute.

“It’s also a great opportunity to get to know our mental health counselors and build a connection and a trust with them,” Wallace said.

The Bindu Institute, whose name derives from the Sanskrit word meaning (center) point, specializes in counseling, coaching and consulting, all focused on mental health.

“Bindu is all about helping people find their balance,” Wallace said. “And a vision board is a great starting point.”

The Bindu Institute’s mission is to create a safe, compassionate, and caring climate where their professionals act as a guide in helping their clients identify solutions to problems, make empowered decisions, achieve goals, improve quality of life, and most importantly, create a balanced life.

The Bindu Institute specializes in mental health counseling, life coaching and consulting.

You do not have to be a Bindu client to attend the workshop. Everyone is invited to participate. The Bindu team encourages you to call to register and they will send you a self-care assessment to take before the workshop.

“It can be overwhelming to think about your life and all the areas you want to improve upon,” Wallace said. “The self-care assessment allows you to reflect and assess which self-care bucket you need filled, and helps you align your goals with your needs.”

Another aspect of the Vision Board Workshop is that The Bindu Institute plans to do quarterly check-ups with all participants. They plan to check-in with people and see how they are doing on their goals. This instills a sense of accountability.

“When you revisit your goals we want to highlight the completed goals,” Lavin said. “Maybe you didn’t hit all of your goals, but you hit two of them and you should be proud of yourself.”
