Dead body believed to have been homicide victim

Human remains found Sunday in a wooded lot off of Sandy Forest Road in Milton are believed to belong to a homicide victim. At this time, all indicators are leading Major Crimes Detectives to suspect this death was a homicide, according to a Wednesday afternoon update from the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office.

The remains were taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and identification. The deceased has been identified but public release is pending notification of next-of-kin. The exact cause of death is still under investigation.

Waste Pro completes new can delivery

Waste Pro notified its customers Tuesday that the initial round of new cart deliveries has been completed. Collections under the old schedule will continue through Saturday, April 3. The new collection schedule will go into effect Monday, April 5. Customers will be notified when old cans will be retrieved. Please do not use them after April 3.

Right now, the need for staff is high for many businesses in Navarre and on the beach, in both Navarre and Pensacola. It’s been made more challenging, managers say, by the recent round of stimulus checks, which essentially pay people for doing nothing.

New Navarre school staff announces colors, mascots and motto

Principal Beth Mosley and vice principal Trish Johnson stepped on the foundation of East Bay K-8 for the first time Friday afternoon. Construction of the new school in Holley by the Sea is coming along and the project is still on time to welcome students this fall.

Mosley and Johnson have been working hard to get everything ready for that day. Friday morning the dynamic duo announced the school’s mascot, colors and motto for the first time.
