“Stingray shuffle” can prevent painful memories

A recent trend of stingray incidents on Navarre Beach conjures memories of this writer’s own run-in with a ray – and better yet, of the advice on how to avoid being injured by these sea creatures.
Cownose rays are frequently spotted at Fort Pickens near the Pensacola Pass. The rays often swim in a large group called a “fever,” flapping their wings to stir up sand to expose bivalves, mollusks and crustaceans such as clams, oysters and shrimp.
