Lauren Kane had a cheering section just for her at the Subway All-Star Game Friday at Pensacola State’s Hartsell Arena.
Navarre head coach Abby Fogg and several players from the basketball team came out to watch her play in this event featuring seniors from Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa County schools.
Raider softball coach Kelly Hayes and players from that team also came out to cheer on Kane, who is on the team this spring.
“It meant a lot to have them here,” Kane said. “It was nice to be able to look over and see them in the stands.”
She was the lone Navarre player on the East roster on a night in which the West managed to rally for a 73-70 win in overtime.
She didn’t leave with a win. But she came away with an experience she won’t forget.
“It was a really cool experience to play with people I normally play against. That was cool,” Kane said.
