Southern Specialty thriving in new location
Owners and sisters-in-law Magda Morton and Lisa Gambill say the move was inspired by the need for more space — not just for products, but for people. “We wanted a place where our customers could slow down, visit, and truly enjoy the shopping experience,” Magda said. “This new location gives us that. It’s bright, open, and filled with all the things that make Southern Specialty… well, special.”
The expanded store means even more room for the signature items that have made Southern Specialty a favorite destination — boutique-style clothing racks, hand-crafted jewelry displays, the scent of locally poured candles, and carefully chosen home décor that can turn any space into something beautiful.
Their new line of food products called Finch + Fennel is a must try. “We’re bringing back the jams, jellies, and other popular food products that put us on the map in our original location,” Lisa said. “The pepper jelly is to die for. Some other fun treats include the pickled green beans and pickled asparagus.” Each food item comes with a QR code linking to delicious recipe variations, making it easier than ever to get creative in the kitchen.
Customers can step into the new Candle and Self-Care Room, a cozy retreat filled with soothing scents, bath products, and relaxation essentials. “It was inspired by all of us needing a little self-care,” Magda explains. “We wanted to create a space that encourages people to take care of themselves and their loved ones,” Lisa said.
Luxury soy candles come in many shapes and sizes at Southern Specialty, including brands such as Tyler, Capri Blue, Illume and Bridgewater candles. For every Bridgewater jar candle sold, a child is fed three meals.
Bee Bella Lip Balm is handcrafted by beekeepers and leaves your lips feeling silky smooth. Try other bath and beauty products that are “good for the soul,” as Magda says, such as Wavertree & London Soaps made in Australia, and Lemon Lavender products including a scalp massager, hot and cold body wrap, spa headband, makeup removing towel, detangling comb, comfy slippers and heatless hair curler wraps.
Southern Specialty has also expanded its children’s and baby section, with adorable new toys, gifts, and baby clothes, including Magnetic Me and Emerson pajamas. “We really wanted to make sure there’s something here for everyone,” Magda added.
This trendy store, now located at the corner of Highway 87 and Laredo St. is known for its personalized Navarre Beach wall décor, blankets and tumblers that pinpoint the exact location of our beach town.
Their statement Consuela handbags and wallets are made in Austin, Texas. Their collection features colorful designs that will make you stand out with their fun patterns and accent straps, as well as their sparkly interior lining.
The sisters love to feature local jewelry makers from the Gulf Coast at their shop. Pensacola artist Jennifer Ponson handcrafts all her jewelry and can also custom-create anything, including personalized Navarre Beach necklaces and beaded bracelets. Aerwyna Creations is another local jewelry line made right here in Navarre by Karen Lakin, who lives in Holley by the Sea. This coastal collection features pearls and sea glass.
Inis Energy of the Sea products from Ireland are a bestseller at Southern Specialty. They carry perfume, soap and lotion with an ocean-inspired fragrance.
Some of the best-selling lines include Z Supply clothing, Dear John and Enewton jewelry. Enewton is a line of 14-carat gold-filled jewelry that is made in Roswell, Georgia. The shop also carries a new jewelry line called Madison Sterling Jewelry made in Mississippi. Each pendant necklace is inspired by God’s promises in scripture.
A new line of jewelry that just landed is called Ellie Vail. These stylish earrings, bangles and statement pieces, which are made from hypoallergenic stainless steel, are designed to be tarnish-resistant and water-resistant.
Magda and Lisa credit their success to their loyal customers and the supportive local community. “We’re so grateful for everyone who’s shopped with us, shared our posts, or told their friends about us,” Lisa said. “This new location is really for them — a way to give back with a better shopping experience and more of what they love.”
Whether you’re searching for the perfect gift, treating yourself to something new or just stopping by to enjoy the friendly company, Southern Specialty’s new home on Highway 87 is worth the visit. Stop in, stay awhile, and experience for yourself why this local gem continues to capture hearts.
