County accepting RESTORE project applications

Santa Rosa County is accepting proposals for projects to be included in the county’s RESTORE Multi-Year Implementation Plan. Approximately $4.3 million is available to Santa Rosa County in the first dollars offered through the RESTORE Act. This initial release of funding is a small part of an estimated $20 million to $75 million Santa Rosa County is expected to receive once litigation and Clean Water Act fines against BP are finalized. County reserves drop below 25 percent

The Santa Rosa County Commission Aug. 28 passed a resolution to transfer $8.2 million from unrestricted county reserves to a restricted fund for an upcoming Navarre Beach renourishment project.

County seeks proposals for $4.3 million in local RESTORE funding

Millions of dollars are about to start flowing from monetary penalties associated with the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Santa Rosa County plans to announce Dec. 16 the availability of roughly $4.3 million for local projects. It’s the first of several phases of RESTORE funding directly allocated to the county.

County hires lobbyist

The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners voted Dec. 3 to hire the Tallahassee-based lobbying firm of Johnson & Blanton. The county will contract the firm to lobby local interests at the state level for $60,000 per year.
