Santa Rosa County commissioners workshop 2026 county budget

The Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners reviewed the county’s current funds and revenue at their draft budget meeting on June 23. The board weighed opportunities to limit current construction projects taking place within the county and pull funding to supplement other parts of the budget. The balanced budget must be delivered by July 15, with the final budget hearing in September.

Santa Rosa County Animal Services to participate in Petco Love Florida MEGA Pet Adoption Event

Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) is proudly joining forces with Petco Love, a national non-profit working to lead and inspire change for animals, and animal welfare groups across the state of Florida on a shared mission to find homes for 2,000 dogs and cats in shelters. The Petco Love Florida MEGA Pet Adoption Event will take place June 27-29 in Petco pet care centers and local animal shelters.

June is audiobooks month at Santa Rosa County Public Libraries

Audiobooks are the fastest growing format in publishing and sales for audiobooks have risen year over year for the past few years.

According to the Audio Publishers Association’s annual survey, 2024 saw $2.2 billion in sales, a 13% increase from the year before. In 2023, sales were at $2 billion, a 9% increase from the previous year.

Santa Rosa County Animal Services to host a drive-through microchip clinic

Santa Rosa County Animal Services (SRCAS) is hosting a reduced-cost microchip drive-through clinic on Friday, May 9 from 12 – 2 p.m. at Santa Rosa County Animal Services, 4451 Pine Forest Road in Milton. Only cats and dogs are eligible to be microchipped. Participants must be residents of Santa Rosa County and will need to show an ID. All cats need to be in a carrier and dogs need to be on leash and collar.

REMINDER: Santa Rosa County holds Waste Tire Amnesty Day at the Central Landfill on Saturday, April 26, 2025

The Santa Rosa County Environmental Department is partnering with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to hold a Waste Tire Amnesty Day at the Central Landfill from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025. A maximum of eight (8) tires per Santa Rosa County resident will be accepted at the Central Landfill, 6337 Da Lisa Road in Milton, free of charge with a photo ID as proof of residency. Tires from commercial shops and vendors will not be accepted. Residents can drop off tires during regular operating hours.
