Softball Raiders beat Escambia and Washington

The Navarre High School softball team won two games last week to make it three in a row. However, neither win was easy as the Raiders won by a run in each. They played an almost perfect game against Escambia on Feb.26, but their defense fell apart three days later against Washington.

Raiders help decide All-Star soccer tilts

The Pensacola Sports Association selected Navarre High School soccer players Hayley Naker, Morgan Littlewood, Brendan White, Jordan Supra and Ryan Olson to play for the East team in its Subway High School All-Star Series soccer game, and the Florida Athletic Coaches Association picked Littlewood, Supra and Olson to play in its showcase games at the University of South Florida. The FACA Girls Soccer All Star Classic is planned March 1-2 and the Boys Soccer All Star Classic is scheduled March 8-9.

Rutledge pitches no-hitter in Raiders’ loss

Normally when a pitcher throws a no-hitter, he gets credited with a win and can expect to be mobbed on the mound at the end of the game. Unfortunately for Navarre High School hurler Jeff Rutledge, neither of these things happened Feb. 21 in Cantonment. Rutledge, who was making his first varsity start, did not allow a hit in six innings of work against the Tate Aggies, but one unearned run by the hosts proved to be the difference in the game.
