Football players, cheerleaders cleaning up

Navarre High School football players and cheerleaders worked for six hours July 26 to clean up the town. Well, not really the town, but dozens and dozens of vehicles that rolled through the business center parking lot just west of Prado Street on Highway 98.

The Navy’s Blue Angels have announced the selection of nine new team members for the 2015 season. The squadron selected an executive officer, three F/A-18 demonstration pilots, an events coordination officer, two C-130 demonstration pilots, a flight surgeon, and a supply officer to join the 2015 team.

About 150 people enjoyed a delicious shrimp boil July 26 hosted by the Holley by the Sea Fishing Club. Before attendees headed through the line to enjoy the shrimp feast, three check presentations were made benefiting local charities.

A fun-loving crowd filled a huge portable tent at The Club at Hidden Creek July 26 to enjoy country music, country folks and to support area charities. PGA Tour pro Boo Weekley’s annual charity golf outing, BooFest, generates funds that are donated to nearly 20 charities including the Air Commandos Association, Fisher House Foundation, Navarre High School golf team and Milton High School athletics.

Commissioners move 3 courthouse sites to ballot

After repeated public outcry against purchasing a $1.44 million parcel of land in Pea Ridge for the future courthouse site, citizens rallied commissioners to remove the option from November’s ballot. Commissioners Jim Melvin and Jayer Williamson supported striking it from consideration but were out-voted July 24.
