An ancient tradition was brought to life as the Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society opened two wood-fired kilns full of pottery Saturday at the Woodstoke Pottery and Kiln Festival in Holley.
St. Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. And, while not everyone celebrates, those who do typically head to three basic gift-giving categories, cards, candy and flowers. According to a survey conducted for the National Retail Federation (NRF), more than half of Americans will celebrate Valentine’s Day . The survey indicates 51.7 percent will purchase cards, 48.7 percent will purchase candy and 37.3 percent will purchase flowers.
Local football standout Doug Baldwin and his Seattle Seahawk teammates entered MetLife Stadium Sunday looking for the franchise’s first Super Bowl title, and 60 minutes of game time later they achieved their season-long goal by defeating Denver 43 to 8. But for Baldwin it was more. It was the culmination of a dream he had shared with his high school football coach at Gulf Breeze many years before.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) at its meeting Feb. 12 and 13 in Tampa will consider a variety of changes to hunting and fishing regulations for the 2014 – 2015 season, but according to a FWC spokesman, two proposals to change deer hunting regulations in northwest Florida won’t be on the agenda.

When I was researching “Spring” I found a widget that you can put on your desktop that counts down the days, hours minutes and seconds until Spring. I did more research on the extended forecast and saw that the last full week of February it will be above 70 every single day!
In the course of life, sometimes families experience overwhelming circumstances out of their control, which can make it difficult to provide for all their family’s needs.
