Navarre Youth Sports Association football players spent a few days last week in Bennett C. Russell Stadium at Navarre High School learning skills and techniques from high school coaches.
Navarre High School football players and cheerleaders worked for six hours July 26 to clean up the town. Well, not really the town, but dozens and dozens of vehicles that rolled through the business center parking lot just west of Prado Street on Highway 98.
“When I was a kid in North Carolina, we had a cow fall out of the pasture,” said Vernon Trivett, 83, his weathered voice sprinkled with pure North Carolina speak. His smiling face suppressed laughter, as us “Flatlanders” asked, ”How’d a cow “fall” out of a pasture?”
The Santa Rosa County chapter of the national charity Ducks Unlimited (DU) hosted a “Greenwing” event July 26 in Milton. The event targeted aspiring hunters and conservationists.
The Navy’s Blue Angels have announced the selection of nine new team members for the 2015 season. The squadron selected an executive officer, three F/A-18 demonstration pilots, an events coordination officer, two C-130 demonstration pilots, a flight surgeon, and a supply officer to join the 2015 team.

About 150 people enjoyed a delicious shrimp boil July 26 hosted by the Holley by the Sea Fishing Club. Before attendees headed through the line to enjoy the shrimp feast, three check presentations were made benefiting local charities.
A fun-loving crowd filled a huge portable tent at The Club at Hidden Creek July 26 to enjoy country music, country folks and to support area charities. PGA Tour pro Boo Weekley’s annual charity golf outing, BooFest, generates funds that are donated to nearly 20 charities including the Air Commandos Association, Fisher House Foundation, Navarre High School golf team and Milton High School athletics.
Santa Rosa County Schools Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick thanked members of the Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for their partnership that ultimately helps make the school district and the Navarre community better.
