Taco Bell has come down and I’m looking forward to having one of the more modern looking Taco Bell buildings like the ones in our neighboring communities. It will also be great to have more options for local employment. I met several of the young people that worked at the Navarre Taco Bell at the time of the fire and even though they were offered employment at other Taco Bells, they didn’t want to drive to Niceville and Crestview for minimum wage.

11 year old from Milton lives silver screen dream

At just 11 years old, aspiring actor Sebastion Passmore can say that he has shared the screen with big-name actors Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner. The sixth grader, from Milton, plays a small role in the new movie “Dallas Buyers Club,” and is hoping his big screen debut will lead to a full-time acting career in the future.

Slye gives up county lease on Sandy Bottoms

Troubles continue for Navarre businesswoman Dorothy Slye, whose Sandy Bottoms retail store, which occupied a county-owned building on Navarre Beach, is now closed.  Slye owed delinquent taxes on the property totaling $20,577.  Tax collector records show Sigma Tax LL of Aventura, Florida purchased the tax certificate, which ultimately went unsold at an Oct. 28 auction.

Lady Raiders win two preseason soccer games

The Lady Raiders soccer team beat a very good Pensacola High team 2 – 0 in the first preseason game at NYSA on Oct. 24. Two days later, they scored a solid 4 – 2 win over another powerhouse, West Florida, in their second preseason match.

Raiders send two to Regionals

The Lady Raiders finished fifth at the District 2, Class 3A Cross Country Meet (a 5K race-3.2 miles) at Lynn Haven Mosley High School last Saturday. Running in the same district as perennial powerhouses Fort Walton, Niceville, and Choctaw, the ladies finished just 50 points from qualifying the team for Regionals.
