It hasn’t been a good final year for West Navarre Primary School Principal Sandi Eubanks, who is set to retire in November. At the end of April during the historic rain event, her school received the worst flooding damage of any Santa Rosa school. During cleanup efforts, her school was hit by grand theft with the loss estimated at more than $10,000 but less than $20,000.
A stress-free wedding on the beach may sound too good to be true. Yet that is what Navarre Beach is delivering to brides from near and far as it continues to grow in popularity as a destination wedding choice.
The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office pursued a felony arrest warrant for a Navarre businessman, who allegedly refused to comply with a state law requiring scrap metal recyclers to electronically submit customer information to law enforcement. Randy Mayne, owner of AWCA Auto Salvage & Recycling, turned himself in May 19 and was issued a $5,000 bond.
The near shore artificial reefs of Navarre Beach in the Gulf of Mexico are growing. According to Mike Sandler, a member of the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary committee, the growth is attributed to increased sand levels as well as new marine life.
Fla. Gov. Rick Scott during a Florida Cabinet meeting May 13 recognized nine outstanding educators for their contributions to learning, and Holley-Navarre Intermediate teacher Danielle Clark was one of them. Each teacher was presented with the Governor’s Shine Award.
Navarre Beach lifeguards visited Bagdad Elementary School April 29 for the third consecutive year to talk to students about water safety. This year, the guards had a hard act to follow. Just a few days before their appearance, Bubba Watson, fresh from his second win at the Masters, visited the school.
