Early in March the marketing firm hired by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), announced a new marketing slogan for Navarre. The motto, “Florida’s most relaxing place” would replace the long used “Florida’s best kept secret.” Problems started early in what would later be dubbed “Sign-gate.”

Boy Scouts of America made a decision Jan. 30 to allow transgender youth to join, a decision fueled by a civil rights complaint a mother in New Jersey filed last year when her 8-year-old-child, who identified as a boy, was kicked out of his unit after parents and leaders discovered the child was transgender.

Developers lose option on Marine Park property

Arguments to build or not to build within the Navarre Beach Marine Park started last year. Though they were met with significant opposition, developers Vic Deal and Ron Ward continued with plan to build a 134-unit condominium project within the confines of the Navarre Beach Marine Park.
