Navarre’s Charlie Cottrell excited about chance to play football for U20 National team

Charlie Cottrell had made up his mind that he wasn’t going to play football again. Birmingham-Southern, where Cottrell was supposed to play his college ball, closed its doors in May for financial reasons.


He had other offers, other opportunities, but none of them felt like home the way Birmingham-Southern did. And then came an opportunity to play the game he loves again.

Athletes enjoy ‘cool’ experience at Special Olympics

Navarre High had a group of athletes compete in the state Special Olympics earlier this month in Orlando.

The group was part of a 3-on-3 basketball team that played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and Angie Taylor, the ESE Chair at the high school, said the athletes had a blast.
