Beaches to Woodlands Tour celebrates 10 years

The fall festival season is right around the corner, and one of the most popular ways locals experience it is through Santa Rosa County’s annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour, which is celebrating its 10th year. More than 40 events are planned throughout the county in conjunction with the Tour, which takes place each weekend in October.

An independent probe led by former FBI Director Louis Freeh found evidence of a plot by lawyers to “corrupt” the BP settlement program but nothing that warranted shutting down payments to victims of the company’s 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, according to a report issued Friday.

Run for the Reef early registration approaching

Walkers who are as slow as loggerhead turtles and runners as fast as spotted eagle rays are sought for the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary’s “Run for the Reef,” a 5K for adults and 1 mile fun run for kids.  Organizers hope the October 13 event will raise more than $6,000 for the group’s artificial snorkeling and diving reefs and related improvements at Navarre Beach Park.“
