Top two bidders return and two other contenders join forces

Santa Rosa County Commissioners received seven proposals in their redo of the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier management bid. Pasco Gibson, Jr., and Yolanda Wells initially won a contract, set to start at the end of the current lease, which expires Dec. 31. However, three commissioners decided to revisit the initial proposal selection, prompting a lawsuit filed by Gibson and Wells to stop a revote. Ultimately the board instead rebid the contract to remedy the suit and also revised a proposal scoring method the county had used for more than two decades.

Six sites submitted for courthouse

Santa Rosa County has received six proposals from land owners offering their property for sale as the site of the new courthouse. Commissioners are expected to review those bids at a special meeting Dec. 3. However, voters will likely decide whether or not to fund a proposed judicial facility next year when a local option sales tax referendum is expected to be placed on the ballot.

Raiders defeat Catholic, tie Pace and Niceville

However, the Raiders steadied the tide with a 2 – 1 win against Catholic and ties against both Pace and Niceville.
