Navarre High ranked ‘B’ school

The number of Florida high schools and combination high schools getting an ‘A’ grade for 2012 rose to 231, up from 148 last year, in preliminary results released Dec. 21 by the Florida Department of Education.

Chamber forms new committees

The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce announced its committees and board of directors for 2013. Cheryl Chant, co-owner of Juana’s Pagodas and Sailors’ Grill, will be the executive committee chairman, replacing John Hays. Hays will serve as the past chairman on the board. Jim Taylor will serve as the chair elect, Regina Carter will be vice chairman and Tim Wyrosdick will act as treasurer.

Son peeks into father’s WWII past

A father and son connected once again at the Hurlburt Field Air Park on Dec. 28. Kim Carmean traveled from West Virginia to see and touch the C-47 that his father flew over Normandy during World War II.

County sets legislative priorities

Port strike averted for now
