Navarre lifters send 11 to Sectionals

The Raider lifters won the district championship March 26 defeating Pace, Milton and Tate. The final score was Navarre 52, Pace 46, Milton 30 and Tate 20. Teddy Harrell, Colton Mapoles and Brent Short each won their individual weight divisions, leading to a Raider win. The top three lifters in each weight division qualified to compete in the sectional meet April 11.

According to the Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN), more than 300 ships have wrecked in and around Pensacola Bay, and they provide great habitat for sea life, as well as recreational opportunities for divers and snorkelers.

Paddlers journey around Florida coast

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) announced March 28 that two retired police officers from Charlotte completed a four-month journey kayaking from Big Lagoon State Park near Pensacola to Fort Clinch State Park just south of the Georgia border on the Atlantic coast.

Representatives from five northwest Florida counties spent two days in Washington D. C. last week hearing updates from top military officials and sharing ideas with lawmakers. The annual trip of the Northwest Florida Defense Coalition included representatives from Santa Rosa, Escambia, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay Counties.

Sports-related dental injuries can be costly

Dentists and oral surgeons across the country are reminding children and adults to use facial protection as they gear up for outdoor activities this spring. The dental industry is promoting April as facial protection month in an effort to prevent head, mouth and facial injuries resulting from sports-related accidents – some of which require trips to the emergency room.
