Errors, grand slams cost Raiders

Slumping Navarre fell to 6-7 after losing 6-0 to Jay, Okla., in the first round of the Aggie Classic high school baseball tournament Monday. The loss was the Raiders’ third straight and Navarre’s first shutout loss of the season. The Maroon and Black were scheduled to play Edmond, Okla., North on Tuesday at West Florida High School. The tournament, featuring 22 local and out-of-state teams, continues through today, Thursday March 21, when the two top-seeded teams and third- and fourth-seeded teams will play at 7 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively, at Community Maritime Park in Pensacola.

Nevada wants to outlaw primates as pets

CARSON CITY, Nev.— A bill to ban dangerous animals as pets was introduced March 13 in the Nevada Senate, a response to last summer’s rampage by two chimpanzees outside Las Vegas that left residents terrorized, one animal dead and another with a one-way ticket to an out-of-state sanctuary.
