It’s a sight seen all-too-often in coastal communities — the white bellies of fish floating in our lakes, rivers and other bodies of water. The latest case witnessed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) was at Lake Victor, a popular, 130-acre FWC-managed impoundment in Holmes County.

HURLBURT FIELD — At any given time, Hurlburt Field Airmen may hear loud booms and feel the ground shake under their feet. It’s a normal occurrence on Hurlburt Field and most people give the credit to the 1st Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadrons Explosive Ordnance Disposal Airmen. However, the masterminds behind the explosions were 25 Airmen from the 823rd Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers.

In an effort to show and encourage good stewardship of public lands, generations of dog hunters are planning to clean up trash and other debris littered across parts of Eglin reservation and in certain areas of the Holley community, which lies adjacent to the southeast border of Eglin. An overwhelmed Milton man in his 20s was found with seven Lortab pills in his possession. The pills had not been prescribed to him, so he received a three-year prison term because of sentencing requirements with respect to the weight of the pills, even though Lortab is mostly comprised of inactive ingredients and Acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, and contains only a small fraction of the narcotic Hydrocodone.

Budding artists from WBMS showcase talent at festivals

Woodlawn Beach Middle School students recently explored their creative side and participated in the Great Gulf Coast Arts and Gulf Breeze Celebrates the Arts festivals.  Several students received honors and placed in the festival, and four WBMS students advanced to the All-County Festival.
