Florida Department of Transportation’s R. Carter Johnson and Jim De Vries gave updates on current projects and took questions about the current state of U.S. Highway 98 at a Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce meeting Friday.

Water advisory back in effect for Navarre Park

The Florida Department of Health in Santa Rosa County has once again issued a water advisory for the water in the sound at Navarre Park. Last week’s test results showed high levels of bacteria, and swimming and water activities are discouraged at the location until further notice.

Navarre schools again make FCAT honor roll

FCAT scores for public elementary and middle schools were announced on Friday, and once again Navarre area schools, with the exception of one, maintained the highest mark. Across Florida, however, there was a huge drop in the number of schools earning an “A” based on cumulative Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) scores. Additionally, due to stricter grading standards, the state board of education had to take emergency action to prevent many schools from failing.

Celebrities hit fairways of Hidden Creek

The fairways and greens at Club at Hidden Creek Locals will become stages for celebrities this weekend. The public is invited to come out to Hole No. 1 at 1 p.m. Saturday and watch local pro golfer Boo Weekley and national TV star Willie Robertson of Duck Dynasty hit the links for Weekley’s annual charity golf tourney.
