Some intersections are more dangerous than others, and Navarre has a couple of these along U.S. Highway 98 that have proven to be accident prone.

More than 50 citizens attended the first of two public hearings on Santa Rosa County’s $100 million budget for fiscal year 2014 held last Tuesday. About one-third of the attendees, mostly Tea Party supporters, spoke out against a proposed property tax increase. However, three of the five commissioners voted for further consideration of the measure, which is aimed to fund raises for county employees, who have not received a bump in pay since a 2009 merit increase.

Three local food establishments have been cited recently for critical food safety violations.  McDonald’s and Taco Bell on Navarre Parkway, and the Pier Bar & Grill, operated by The Pier, Inc., which runs the Navarre Beach Pier were all issued warnings during health inspections in recent months.  The issue with Taco Bell, however, is related to a fire earlier this year which forced the closure of the business, which has yet to re-open. 

Doberman Pinscher owners often fall madly in love with the breed, known for their superior intelligence, loyalty, obedience and energetic nature.  However, problems sometimes arise because Dobermans are a protective, demanding breed which seeks companionship and needs leadership, and the lack thereof can cause behavioral issues which can be hard to correct.  Subsequently, Dobermans are sometimes surrendered to shelters.
