Navarre residents and visitors had plenty to do at the beach this weekend as the fifth annual Navarre Beach Sand Sculpting Festival and the Navarre Fishing Rodeo both took place over the weekend of Sept. 26 through Sept. 28.
A local legislative coalition is pushing purchase of a $1.44 million site in Pea Ridge as the location for a future county courthouse. Voters will decide between that site and two other parcels during the Nov. 4 general election. Voters will also decide if they want to fund the project using a one-cent sales tax increase for a period of five years.
Family and friends are mourning the loss of two-year-old Payton Lee Stone who died Sept. 23 from injuries sustained in a car crash Aug. 5. Her mother, Milton resident Ronni Stone, died at age 20 in the crash.
In the pre-season Kickoff Classic, Milton held the Raiders scoreless and allowed just one first down in the half of play. Since that August 21 contest, the Navarre offense has been unstoppable.
