The Navarre Beach Area Chamber of Commerce will soon have a new President/CEO — and they already know who they want to lead the organization. However, the news must wait a bit longer before an official announcement can be made.

The Board of County Commissioners recently announced a new county program available immediately to Santa Rosa County residents, supposedly aimed to help with high prescription medication costs.  The county is boasting that citizens can see significant savings through participation in the free discount card program administered by CVS/Caremark.

Lifelong friends Alan Little and Duane Reynolds fished in the Santa Rosa Sound last Monday, just like they had hundreds of times before. But what happened days later was not typical, and would change the lives of two Gulf Breeze families as the fishing trip turned into the county’s first case of the deadly Vibrio Vulnificus bacteria.

In the aftermath of a lawsuit filed by the top-ranked bidder for the management contract of the Navarre Beach Pier, Commissioner Lane Lynchard initiated a discussion to reject all previous bids and redo the selection, using a different voting process.  Commissioners Don Salter and Bob Cole agreed, but Commissioners Jim Williamson and Jim Melvin strongly opposed the move, which is set to be officially approved today.
