County expected to grant funding requests

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendell Hall has requested an additional $904,700 for capital purchases from County Commissioners, mostly to replace aging patrol vehicles.  Clerk of Court Don Spencer made a similar, albeit smaller, request, in seeking a one-time allocation of $84,697 to fund step raises for employees.  Commissioners are expected to approve both funding requests through the Capital Reserve Fund at the December 12meeting.

Committee to form, research community center

Just as it was for an online survey about the subject, public opinion was split among a small group gathered at the Navarre community center public meeting on Monday evening. However, there was one thing that nearly all of the approximately 20 people in attendance agreed upon — a committee comprised of citizens will be formed to further look into the matter.

GULF BREEZE – Navarre survived a fourth-quarter Gulf Breeze blitzkrieg to win its sixth-straight Beach Bowl 34-24 Friday at Dolphins Stadium.

Lady Raiders get stingy with goals

The Navarre High girls soccer team began the week by shutting out Crestview 8 – 0 in a Nov. 5 away contest. Two days later, the Lady Raiders played arch-rival Gulf Breeze to a scoreless tie at NYSA. Playing their third game of the week, Navarre traveled to West Florida High School and shut out the Jaguars 2 – 0 last Saturday.

Raiders win two of three to start the season

The first week of the regular soccer season was a busy one for the Raiders boys soccer team. They played Choctaw at home on November 4 and won 3 – 1. They lost to Gulf Breeze, 4-0. However, the final score did not reflect how close the game really was. Then, on Nov. 9, the Raiders traveled to West Florida High School and won in convincing fashion, 6 – 0.
